Challenge

Deliver a fully connected digital pavilion, interacting, incentivising and tracking visitors through a fully immersive brand environment.

Approach

We supported Pico in delivering a fully immersive interactive pavilion for Acer, overseeing the complete digital architecture from design, through to technical production. The visitor journey began with visitors registering via the web-app, creating their own avatar whilst queuing, and then transporting their avatar via their mobile to individual stations to play multiple interactive challenges and score points. Points meant prizes, and the higher scores led to numerous competitions to win the latest Acer products.

The technologies we developed were entirely bespoke, incorporating multi-input screen distortions onto a sphere, complex web-apps with a data capture backbone, visitor tracking and score capturing systems, interactive touch screen content, QR code activations and multi-device interactives.

Integrated technology: "The Track"

We designed a Track & Field style running game played by 8 people simultaneously. Players controlled an avatar running around a track designed to emulate a computer PCB. Players raced their avatars jumping over resistor and capacitor hurdles.. Each avatar displayed a 3D digitised image of the player’s own face.

The game utilised a dramatic, tension building, visual countdown, audio of crowds cheering and a fantastic WINNER! sequence at the end of each race.

Every race time was captured and displayed on a leaderboard. Daily leaders won prizes and were entered into a draw to win an Acer Gaming PC. The data was used by Acer for follow up marketing.

Integrated technology: "Interactive Sphere"

We created a focal point for people to explore Acer’s new products being launched at the event. Utilising a 2m diameter Pufferfish inflatable projection dome we created an eye catching centerpiece for the floor. Users could navigate through content on the tablets while their explorations were displayed on the large dome for others

to see and to encourage extended participation.

The spheres were not designed for interactive content. We had to design and code a unique display application that could cope with consecutive multi-inputs and the severe distortion of the 2m sphere. This was the first time this approach had been attempted and successfully delivered.
